BENALMÁDENA

Read our guide about one of the most popular areas, Benalmádena.

Benalmádena is a beautiful and charming city that stretches from the Sierra de Mijas all the way down to the coast. It’s composed of Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Costa, and has a total of 74.000 inhabitants. It is mostly known for its famous marina, twice celebrated as the best marina in the world, and know as the Andalusian Venice. Here you will find a wide array of leisure activities, watersport activities, schools that teach everything boat related, scuba diving, jetski, and much much more. Apart from that you can of course also visit Tivoli World, Sealife Aquarium, the Butterfly park, and the also famous Mountain Cablecar.

It is also very well located, with easy access to Malaga Airport (AGP) and the very Centre of Malaga
Both in the Marina and in the rest of Benalmadena you’ll find tons of restaurants, shops and malls.

In Benalmádena Costa you’ll find no less than 17 beautiful beaches, a fantastic boardwalk and plenty of chiringuitos, or beach bars and restaurants.
Benalmádena shares its border with Fuengirola, which you will reach if you keep going south.

In Benalmádena Pueblo, you will find the old part of town, built in the traditional Andalusian style, with its well known castel, Castillo Monumento Colomares, dedicated to Christopher Columbus and his discovery of America. You should perhaps also take some time to visit the Buddhist temple La Estupa with its impressive copper spire.

Since the arrival of the first Scandinavians to the Costa del Sol, has Benalmádena been one of the favourite cities in the South of Spain. Here you’ll find architecture for everybody’s taste; from the old part of town to the charming townhouses, the gorgeous classical Spanish villas, and the modern and stylish new projects being built.
A must see city, if you are considering buying a property in south Spain.
